You must first apply for a Boston Public Library eCard in order to use to all of Boston Public Library’s online databases. Massachusetts residents or people who work in MA can sign up for a BPL eCard via the web! Just follow the prompts on the ecard application link (above) and your eCard number will be emailed to you.
An individual who is 13 years of age or older may register for an eCard if he or she lives in MA or works in MA
The Boston Public Library wants to make sure kids are safe online, so in accordance with the Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) so they don't let children under 13 fill out the contact information required for an eCard account. The birthdate information allows you to confirm that you are 13 or older.
